Grizedale Arts in the Crake Valley

Grizedale Arts has launched a new project to save The Farmer’s Arms and re-open it as a pub and a new kind of rural arts centre.

Community asset register

Following a public meeting the Farmers was nominated as an asset of community value and successfully added to the register in May 2020.

Heritage list

The Farmers is a Grade II listed building with parts of the building dating back to the 17th Century. The building was added to the national heritage list for England in 1970.

Raphael Tuck & Sons was the world’s largest postcard publisher. They produced a set of six postcards featuring the Farmers before 1939.
